Grocerlist Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Grocerlist (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a mobile application operated by Grocerlist LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Grocerlist app (the “App”). For privacy questions or concerns, contact us at support@grocerlistapp.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to operate and improve the App:

• Account Information: Your email address, encrypted password, and verified status.
• User Submissions: Products, prices, stores, recipes, ingredients, instructions, and other content you choose to submit, along with timestamps and related activity.
• Public Profile Information: You may choose a kitchen name (username) that can be visible to other users within the App. This identifier is associated with your content and activity.
• Public Contributions: Content you submit, including products, pricing, stores, and recipes, may become visible within the App after review and approval. Your chosen kitchen name may be displayed alongside your content, but we do not display sensitive personal information such as your email address.
• Social Interactions: We collect data related to your interactions within the App, such as likes, saves, follows, and notifications between users.
• Contribution & Activity Metrics: We track submission counts, approvals, timestamps, ranking position, and other contribution-related metrics to support community features such as rankings and progress tracking.
• Technical Data: Minimal device metadata (such as OS type or crash logs) to help improve performance.
• ZIP Code Information: When you provide your ZIP code, we convert it into approximate latitude and longitude to show nearby stores. We do not collect or track precise GPS location data.
• Analytics: We use Supabase logs, Google Analytics, and Firebase to monitor usage patterns and app performance.
• Future Features: We may introduce additional features such as image uploads for recipes or user profiles. Any such content will be stored, processed, and moderated in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
• Advertising Data: We may collect limited information such as general location (ZIP code), device data, and in-app activity to display relevant advertisements and measure ad performance.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To operate, maintain, and improve the Grocerlist App.
• To compare grocery prices and show stores near your ZIP code.
• To enable social features, including displaying your kitchen name alongside your content and notifying users of interactions such as likes, saves, or follows.
• To verify accounts and maintain security.
• To send important account or policy updates (we do not send newsletters or marketing emails).
• To generate aggregated insights (e.g., “top listed products by ZIP code”) for analytics and advertising purposes, never tied to individual users.
• To display and measure advertisements and sponsored content, including improving relevance and performance using aggregated and non-identifiable data.
• To generate contribution rankings, progress tracking, and leaderboard features based on user activity. Public rankings do not display personally identifiable information.
• To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

4. Data Sharing, Service Providers & Aggregated Insights

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. However, we rely on trusted third-party providers to operate the Grocerlist App, including:

• Supabase: Authentication, hosting, and database storage.
• Expo & Firebase: App delivery, diagnostics, and performance monitoring.
• Google Analytics: Analyzes general app usage trends.
• Advertising Partners: We may work with third-party ad networks (such as Google AdMob) to display advertisements within the App.

Advertising partners may use device-level information, identifiers, and general usage data to deliver and measure ads. This may include information such as device type, approximate location (e.g., ZIP code), and in-app interactions. This data is handled in accordance with their respective privacy policies and does not include personally identifiable information such as your email address.

On iOS devices, users may be asked to grant permission for tracking through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework. If permission is denied, ads will still be displayed but may be less personalized.

These partners process data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We require all providers to use secure practices and to access data only as needed to support Grocerlist.

Aggregated & Anonymized Data

Grocerlist LLC may create, use, or share aggregated and anonymized data — information that cannot identify any individual user. This may include insights such as:

• Popular products in a ZIP code or city
• General pricing trends by region
• Number of active users in a given market
• Store-level or category-level analytics

Community rankings and leaderboards are displayed using anonymized or non-identifying information and do not reveal user emails or personal identifiers.

We may share or license these aggregated insights with retailers, brands, researchers, or other business partners. Aggregated data never includes personal information or anything that identifies individual users.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

• User emails are retained for up to 1 year after account deletion for fraud prevention and potential reactivation.
• Submitted content (including products, stores, pricing data, and recipes) may be retained and used for ongoing app functionality, analytics, and platform improvement, even after account deletion.
• Server logs and analytics data are retained for up to 24 months and may be anonymized afterward.

6. Data Security

Grocerlist uses Supabase’s security protocols, including encrypted data transmission and password hashing. Access to user data is restricted to authorized administrators only. While we use industry-standard protections, no system can guarantee absolute security. You use Grocerlist at your own discretion.

7. Intended Audience & International Use

Grocerlist is intended for use in the United States only. By using the App, you consent to your data being processed and stored in the United States. We do not currently serve users in other regions.

8. User Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information. To do so, contact us at support@grocerlistapp.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe, consistent with applicable laws.

9. Children’s Privacy

Grocerlist does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe your child has created an account without your consent, please contact us for immediate deletion. Users aged 13–17 must have permission from a parent or guardian.

10. Policy Updates & Notifications

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect operational or legal changes. When we do, we will notify users by both email and in-app notice. Continued use of the App after updates means you accept the new terms.
